ITS CHALLENGING AND EXCITING TO HAVE TO WRITE THE SONGS INTO TIME CAPSULES SPREADING OVER YEARS…IVE WRITTEN A LOT OF SONGS WITH MICK MARS OF COURSE ALONG WITH JAMES MICHEAL, MARTI FREDERICKSON AND DJ ASHBA…THE CHEMTSRY IN THE STUDIO AS WERE WRITTING IS UNBELIEVABLE…I LOOK FORWARD TO LEAKING SOME TO YOU ALL IN THE NEXT FEW MONTHS…

I HAVENT GOTTEN ANYTHING TATTOOED IN YEARS EXCEPT “TAG HERE ” ON MY TOE…. I THINK ITS TIME TO STEP IT UP, IM FEELING THE ITCH.KAT’S GONNA DO ONE PROBABLY THIS WEEKEND.IVE BEEN WANTING TO GET “LOS ANGELES” TATTOOED ON ME FOR AGES AND THEN THE OTHER DAY I NOTICED KAT HAS IT ON HER LEFT SHOULDER, WE BOTH HAVE HAD SO MUCH HAPPEN IN OUR LIVES IN THIS CITY, WHY NOT MAKE IT PERMANENT.THE BAND STARTED IT HERE, IVE DIED HERE, HAD KIDS, MARRIED AND DIVORCED HERE…. MY LIFE IS IN “LOS ANGELES”…

PROUDLY NOT SMOKING STILL AND STILL SOBER 7 YEARS THIS JULY…. AMAZING THE DESICIONS YOU MAKE WHEN YOU THINK OF OTHERS FIRST…. AND YOU GET THAT BY BECOMING SELFLESS AND THAT IS A HUGE PART OF GETTING TO THE CORE OF YOUR ISSUES…

WHAT A FUCKING GREAT YEAR…I CAN FEEL IT IN MY BONES…

NIKKI”

Sounds promising, looks like hes following the way he wrote the heroin diaries soundtrack, should be interesting, but will it lack the rawness of 1980s Motley Crue?

New official Warrant photo, with Jani Lane

New official photo with Jani Lane and Warrant below. He is looking good now, comparing to what he look’d like a couple of years ago. No-one have offically said that it is working amongst the band members, if you remember way back, Jani was an ass or vice-versa. BUT they are well rumour’d to perform on this years Rocklahoma, according to Blabbermouth.

Shouldn’t this be cool to see again, I mean, I haven’t seen them live but for those who have it should be awesome.

Ex-Sharp and ex-Foxey members form new band. Interview With Rick-y

Posted in Interviewz on January 28th, 2008 by Dr. Lee

I Caught up with Rick-y the bass player of a new Swedish Rock N Roll under the codename “T.I.T.S” for an online interview. T.I.T.S were formed out half of the bands Sharp, and Foxey.

T.I.T.S

Hey rick-y, so tell us a little about your new, currently unnamed but under the temporary name of “T.I.T.S” band?

Yeah It’s a brand new rock n roll band with all the right members this time. We’re formed out of the ashes of once great hope for rock bands Sharp and Foxey. The music is best described as hard rebellious rock with focus on energeric live performances.

Thats cool man, i was a fan of both Sharp and Foxey so this band sounds awesome. How does it feel now playing in “T.I.T.S”?

It’s a blast. Really. Whenever we’re around it feels more like a gang than a band. Nothing else matters it’s us against the world now. And we’re not stopping till we reach the top and further.

Sounds like you guys have got something to say. Who would you say the band is most influenced by and why did you decide you wanted to get into rock music?

Actually what we’re most influenced by is whats going on around us in the world. We’re trying to get all the young dudes and girls to go out and do something with their lifes instead of spending all the time in front of for ex. a computer learning games. Go out and do something, change something. Become something!

And most import just don’t accept the world as it is. Make your own decisions.

Thats cool man, i agree i think this generation is very different from the past generations when they didnt have computers and things. And its showing with the lack of talented rock bands around the world, luckily the swedish scene is getting stronger all the time. “T.I.T.S” recently debuted live at the Rest In Sleaze festival, playing live with many othet swedish rock bands. What was it like playing R.I.S?

Oh, it was amazing.. Since no one ever heard any songs from us we were overwhelmed by the feedback. It was by far the best experience ever. You really could feel the energy exchange between us in the band and the band to the audience. It was great. And it’s something very strange arousing when there’s a handful of peops grabing your “long johnson” while playing. Strange but exciting ;)

And Lisbeth Hellman did a fantastic job for us.. Even though the split up of Sharp and Foxey came after both our bands been booked to the event. She let us play. After lots of trouble working out “whos got the most right to play” and so on..
All in all it all worked out and we had a blast and a great first apperance to the public

Thats cool man, i think RIS is a very importent show in sweden and for the new sleaze metal, glam metal, hard rock scene. When will the band have a new name, myspace and songs sorted out for public access?

We’re working all day and night to get a name together.. but it’s hard.. and since we got the chance to do it all from the beginning again we’re doing it all RIGHT this time. So the name must be the best suitable for what we’re on the verge of doing, a rock n roll revolution! But we can’t sit around waiting for a name. We’re starting recordings in february. For now we’re gonna record 4-5 songs just to have for the promokit and to promote ourselfs on the net.

We’re having some discussions with several record labels.. but man these times are tough. Not a single deal has been near OK! So in the meantime we’re planning and getting together a team of our own. Maybe we have to do it all by ourselfs. Maybe thats the best… So in the next few months we’ll be playing and touring a lot in Sweden. We’re flipping coins between LA and Japan. Sweden is to small we have to get out of here and continue the crusade around the world

Rick-y At Rest In Sleaze Festival

So the fans should be seeing something soon then. I also agree with you about sweden being to small, i dont think enough of the new swedish bands try to promote themselves out of sweden. I think vains of jenna are the only ones so far to actually move to the USA. So, What does playing Rock N Roll give you rick-y?

It’s everything.. it’s the reason to get up in the morning. Rock n roll is about doing everything your own way. And that’s what I’m always been doing. That rush you get from being on stage is worth every hour of hard work. When I first got into rock it was about the music now it’s more about the lifestyle. It’s all rock n roll. Rockers have and always will have a special bond to each other. And it’s so nice whats happening in Sweden right now. To go out almost everyday in the week and have several bars and clubs to choose from, it wasn’t like that a few years ago, every single day it’s a happening with rock going on in sthlm.

Since I still have to work to get my money .. I at least chose a profession where I can be hungover at work and go out and party . It’s even nice when you can go out to some hip and cool mainstream place and meet the guys from poodles, easy action europe and whatever and still have a rocking party at what we call the “brat-bars” where all the rich fuckers are hangaround. All they tell you these “bratz” is that they wanna be like us. So we just go there sometimes and show them how life suppose to be, and stir around in the pit a bit. Make a mess and get thrown out for being to obscene, it’s always fun… but mostly we hang around the cool rockclubs like Crazy Nights or Rocks. where you can go totally nuts.

Everyone at this bratplaces tells us that they’ve been reading “The dirt” and that they used to play guitar when they where young. And that their rich parents wouldn’t let them rock the fuck out. So we just go there and mess with their minds and tell them to fuck their parents and do what they want to do.
Macky actually got a highshot pilot to grab his guitar again and now his a regular at our shows.. standing there in his suit and rocking out and headbanging.

Thats awesome rick-y, Rock N Roll is always a liberation to people who choose to embrace it and your story proves this. Thank you for taking part in this online interview or else id have had to fly all the way over to Sweden to talk to you! One last thing youd like to say on behalf of “T.I.T.S” and yourself?

Thank you! And I really think you should come over here.. otherwise we will visit to your home place with “Spritfest med Horor” . We’re working on some gigs in germany, japan and UK so stay in touch. We’re soon have something online. Maybe Mr. Lee could be so nice to link some youtube-clips to this article! Id also like to add, Gustaf is our dear friend and official photographer and would like to thank him for taking so much great pictures of us and all the other bands in Sthlm. All those pics gonna make him famous and rich someday.. just wait!

Crazylixx/Hardcore Superstar live Birmingham Barfly January 20th

Posted in HCSS on January 26th, 2008 by Dr. Lee

Im a huge fan of the sleaze rock scene that has errupted out of sweden, and it was my pleasure to finally have the chance to go see two of swedens finest bands, Crazy lixx and Hardcore Supestar on the mentally damaged world tour.

The venue wasnt exactly huge but it was nice, certainly not cramped and the main bands had plenty of room onstage. Naturally, i was at the front, right by the stage awaiting the bands to come on. First up was UK band “High Society” sporting a glam punk type image and sound, it was hard to judge the bands music quality as the PA set up frankly was appauling for them. Judging off there stage presence they were a high adrenaline band, certainly a representation of there youth. One issue i did have was the frontman, his “onstage persona” you could call it was very irritating and not cool at all, i also suggest a better belt… i didnt enjoy his arsecrack in my face all the time. A positive note is that the bands lead guitarist played some awesome guitar work and i was impressed by his mix of technicality and aggression, i have high hopes for his talent.

Next up was what i had been waiting for, Crazy Lixx. Sporting an incredibily cool image, and improved sound set up, they opened with “Hell or High Water” getting the crowd into there show right from the start. The band through the show were very tight and put on a great show, lead singer Dirtchild Danny didnt sing a bum note all night, he was pretty much as good as the album recording and was also a great frontman!!! Guitarist Vik Zeno was awesome, whilst playing some extremely great guitar work youd expect to see at a whitesnake concert, he also moved around alot doing all sorts of crazy dance moves and pulling a variety of amusing guitar faces, id also like to add that the band were very good at providing backing vocals. A Highlight for me was Vic Zeno diving on me and my friend during “Death Row” and performing a guitar solo on top of us. Crazy lixx performed most of there album and played an awesome show. The crowd responded well to them and i can only wish them the best of luck for future success because this band deserves it.

Now the crowd was ready to rock, without too long a wait, headline act Hardcore Superstar took the stage opening with “Need No Company”, singer Jocke Berg performed some awesome screams whilst commanding the crowd and constantly pushing them to be louder and wilder. After the song the band welcomed us and said they were proud to be playing to the city where the legendary Black Sabbath hailed from, quite amusingly (now ex) guitarist silver mistook the area to also be the hometown of Def Leppard, the crowd found this amusing and many shouted sheffield in correction to him, Silver and the band seemed to also find this amusing. The show was very long and i think the band really enjoyed playing for Birmingham as the band never tired and even played 3 songs for the encore!! These were “Kick On The Upperclass” “Liberation” and the classic “We Dont Celebrate Sundays”. The band was very tight and appeared to be enjoying themselves, i must say if i hadnt of read about Silver’s reasons for leaving i wouldnt have been able to tell. As he truly seemed to be enjoying it alot and giving the performance 100% effort.

A Highlight for me was Jocke Berg swinging and smashing his mic stand off the floor and then pulling off an awesome scream.

The band performed a brilliant live set and jocke never seemed to tire and his voice was great all the way through, the band then came down and shook fans on the front rows hands, Bass player Martin shook mine and i said thank you to him and he lent over to me and said “no, sincerely, thank YOU” which was very nice of him.

Both Crazy Lixx and Hardcore Superstar performed great shows, i cant say one was better than the other. Top live acts!

Guitarist Thomas Silver you will be missed, thank you for your contribution to the great creation that is rock n roll.

Airbourne- Runnin’ Wild Album Review

Posted in Reviewz on January 26th, 2008 by Dr. Lee

Airbourne- running wild

I recently picked up this album after hearing some of airbournes tracks on there myspace at http://www.myspace.com/airbourne. Now the band sounds remarkably like ac/dc on first listening to them, which isnt a bad thing at all. The band plays a style they know as “aussie pubrock”, but airbourne does much faster and heavier then those that came before them.

Tracklisting

  1. Stand Up For Rock ‘N’ Roll
  2. Runnin’ Wild
  3. Too Much, Too Young, Too Fast
  4. Diamond In The Rough
  5. Fat City
  6. Blackjack
  7. What’s Eatin’ You
  8. Girls In Black
  9. Cheap Wine & Cheaper Women
  10. Heartbreaker
  11. Let’s Ride (australian Version)/ Hellfire (world release version)

The album kicks off with “Stand Up For Rock N Roll”, the track is reminiscent of a thunderstruck type intro only slower, it pauses for just a second with a drum symbol countdown, listeners then should prepare to have their heads blasted off by the sheer onslaught of crunchy riffs and driving drum and bass. The pace of the album continues to stay fast and rocking with the title track “runnin wild” which i must say is one of my favourites, this track is totally awesome and will have you driving in your car excessively fast in no time!!!

The pace then goes to a moderate speed with the first major single and video off the new album “Too much, Too Young, Too fast” this anthemic made for arenas song will be in your head for days, whilst all there songs have 80s styled backing vocals and are clearly made to be catchy this one is by far the catchiest song and good choice of a single to promote the album, you can watch the video here http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=uANVBPVaf-g

The album picks up the pace again for a down and dirty track and currently second single (in australia only) called “Diamond in the Rough”. The song oozes with charisma as Frontman Joel O’Keeffe’s voice really works well with the band as its narrator of sleaze. The song is pretty kick ass but not as fast as the first two songs. Then there is “Fat City”, this is an awesome sleazy track , whilst not amazing its just great specifically for its main riff and yet another catchy chorus.

Then when the listener could potentially lose interest, the band hits back hard with the song “Blackjack” this is a really fast aggressive track with some awesome solos and shout along vocals, i can only imagine everyone shouting “BLACK JACK BLACK JACK!!” along with the band live, this is a really great track on the album.

Then we have the song “Whats Eatin You” this is a very catchy song full of sleazy innuendo lyrics and a great drum beat. Some cool guitar work in this song also for all of those that listen out for that sort of thing.

“Cheap Wine and Cheaper Women” is a slightly different styled track to the other songs, a more groovy type song, this is one of my least favourite songs on the album and the only one i sometimes will skip, its an ok song and adds a bit of a change. But the band doesnt need to mess with there formula much as they are proving they make great songs which can all be hits.

The band then picks up pace again with “Heartbreaker”, this is another really strong track of the album, reminds me off something off the ac/dc album “powerage” a real down n dirty track, i especially love the chorus “Just give me one more night…heartbreaker, down on ya knees”, after listening to that chorus you will want to listen the song again and again, it is an incredabily infectious chorus and the band shows yet again it was made to top charts and play arenas. I cant say a bad thing about this song at all, it flat out rocks.

The album depending on which version you have(i have the australian version of the album at the moment) finishes off with “Lets Ride”. This is a very fast rocking so intended exactly for what is in its title, driving. A fast rocking track, much like the previous songs it knocks your head off and finishes leaving you wanting the album to go on forever. Frankly i had this album on repeat for a long time.

For a band not doing something one would say is original, they have made a tremendous hard rock album and this is showing with the success they are having worldwide. While i cant specifically comment on countries outside of england, airbourne are getting alot of exposure here, played on both mainstream rock channels Scuzz and Kerrang and covered in many rock magazines this band is on its way to the top. They are the first new rock band to be given acceptable coverage by British mainstream media and they very much deserve it, i can only hope this is a sign of things to come.

I suggest anyone who likes there rock music loud, aggressive and fast paced, buy this album immedietaly.

Ill be catching airbourne on there UK tour in February so be sure to check back for my review of the band live!!!!
