Dave Lepard, someone to remember

Posted in Birthdays, CRASHDÏET, Other on May 28th, 2008 by Dr. Rock

I want to remind you of something that would change the rock scene in Sweden, and perhaps the world. This day 28th of May, David Hellman was born. David was also known as Dave Lepard while capturing the dream of a teenage boy, the dream of becoming a rockstar.
He did fight for it, struggled for both the attention of the main-stream audience and showing what rock music is about.

We all read, on that sad day, that we had lost a star. Dave was someone who changed the music scene here in Sweden, he and his band were well criticized by the media and their fans.
When Dave left us, he gave the torch to his team-mates, his band, to carry on this rockstar dream. CRASHDÏET is now touring around the world, with Dave on their shoulders.

We should all remember this day, remember the day when he for the first time popped into our lives. He changed a lot of hearts and made people see the fun in rock n’ roll.
Don’t forget to play Rest in Sleaze on the max, for him.

Happy birthday Dave, we all salute you!

A small add from my brother showed me the way to where I can listen to all of the songs on the upcoming album from Mötley Crüe. I am sure you all want to listen to, just click HERE and enjoy the time. Remember, it is only 30 second samples, but still pretty good.
All of the songs is in style with “Saints of Los Angeles”, pure rock n roll from the 00s. Can’t wait to see them live ones more!!!

Upcoming bands that look promising for you to check out

Posted in Bands, Jailbait, Newz, Other on May 17th, 2008 by Dr. Lee

I felt i should post some links and videos of some new bands, and ones which are great which you may not have caught yet.

More established ones every rock fan should check out are
CRASHDIET:Formed by the late great Dave Lepard, this band is widely credited for helping kickstart the now thriving Swedish rock scene and their two albums Rest In Sleaze and The Unnattactive Revolution are a must for ALL fans of hard rock, glam and sleaze metal. http://www.myspace.com/realcrashdiet

Crazy Lixx: These guys bring you that big arena rock sound you love, with awesome guitar solos and vocal melodies, Crazy Lixx take the big rock from the 80s but take out the keyboards n turn up the amps. They recently lost long time guitarist Vic Zeno as he left to join the legendary Hardcore Superstar, but do not fear, this band knows they have potential and what it takes to make it big worldwide so they are looking for a new guitarist, for all we know, they might of already found one. I also interviewed singer Danny Dirtchild a few months back on the site, check it out if you want to know more. http://www.myspace.com/crazylixxmusic

Gemini Five: Formed sometime back in 2003 (i think) was a band who put out, in my opinion, some ok songs. They never seemed to really find their song, going from a punk rock kind of sound to a gothic industrial sound. The band with a little help from their friends (crashdiet) found their sound and put out their terrific third album Sex Drugs Anarchy a few weeks ago. With huge dirty riffs these guys are one of the heaviest Glam Metal bands hailing from sweden and you certainly should check out the bands material http://www.myspace.com/geminifive

Hardcore Superstar: One of the original kick ass bands of the Swedish wave right now, Hardcore Superstar are the perfect mix of rock and metal. With Jocke Bergs tremendous vocal onslaught HCSS are one of the best bands of the 00s, especially referencing their 2005 self titled album and 2007 album Dreamin In a Casket. They recently lost a key member of the band, Thomas Silver, im sure many fans of the band await to see how the bands sound will change with Vic Zeno in the band when they put out new material. Check these guys out or regret it http://www.myspace.com/hcssgbg

Buckcherry: Are an American Rock N Roll band who released their first album in 1999, since then they have released 2 more albums, one of them being a platinum album with singles that charted in the top 10 (in USA). Frontman Josh Todd has a unique voice and insane stage presence, fans of Guns N Roses and Aerosmith will surely like Buckcherry. Their albums are , self titled (1999), Timebomb (2001) and 15 (2005). They are also one of the bands to tour with Motley Crues huge new show Cruefest and singer Josh Todd features in the video for the new Motley Crue single: Saints Of Los Angeles .

Fresh bands from around the world

Jailbait:One of Swedens hottest new bands, Jailbait are a raw rock n roll band with a terrific line up on musicians brought together from the splitting of two of Swedens previously finest bands Sharp and Foxey. They previously went under the temporary name of T.I.T.S and performed a brilliant debut show at the Rest In Sleaze festival in 2008. Since then the band have released a new single “We Are The Revolution” and another song (found on the bands myspace) titled “We Own The Night”. Also one of my very first interviews at the site here were with bassist and friend Rick-y so be sure to check it out, it was certainly good fun and has some memorable quotes. http://www.myspace.com/jailbaitonline

Here is also a great live clip of Jailbait.

Peep Show: A great Glam Metal band coming from the UK (for once) these guys are a mix of Glam Metal, shock rock and punk. There debut album will be reviewed on the site soon. With heavy riffs, and really cool guitar solos (a rarity with modern bands) Peep Show set themselves out as a different new breed of sleaze with there theatrics and heavier sound. Vocalist Johnny Gun delivers vocals that are rough but ranged and has a very cool hair style may i add ;) So check em out, and “Turn It Up” www.myspace.com/peepshowROXX

Airbourne: While they are not a glam metal band these guys have some of the sleaziest hard rock songs to come out of Australia for a long time. Think AC/DC crossed with Motorhead and thats what you get with Airbourne. Their debut album Runnin Wild is brilliant from start to finish and many will say is left on repeat for weeks and weeks because it is that good. They also put on a very good live show because they are absolutely mental live. These guys kick ass and definately “Stand Up For Rock N Roll” http://www.myspace.com/airbourne

Dirty Penny: An American glam metal band with the looks that kill. If you want a stripped down full force rocking glam metal album from the states from the 21st century then look no further. Dirty Penny will give you everything you need. While not the most technical of bands they have some great riffs and chorus;s and i think you all should check them out! http://www.myspace.com/dirtypennysucks

Thats all for today, i hope this post has given you an insight to some ass kickin bands ;) who all need your support.

A small report from Rhodes

Posted in Rock Hospital on May 14th, 2008 by Dr. Rock

I just want to report from Rhodes, a worm country in Greece. I love it here, I can walk to a grocery store and buy a beer, and just walk away. I cant do that in Sweden, cuz its illegal, but here its legal. Hahah, so tomorrow we will be watching the land, you know it is very beautiful here.

This is a country I want to recommend for you all, cuz it is all love-able. And I think that Dr. Lee can manage all the news for you cuz I dont have the time here in Rhodos, 1 hour on the net costs me 3 euros. Well that is all for me today, maybe I will come back and tell how my day have been e.t.c.

Video Of The Day:RATT-Body Talk

Posted in Video of the Day on May 14th, 2008 by Dr. Lee

All fans of glam metal or 80s rock/metal should know of RATT!

RATT are one of the most under-rated 80s bands ever, for the fact that, they were a pretty big band and somehow are all but forgotten now. They wrote some of the best riffs of the 1980s and did some really kick ass albums. My personal recommendations would be

Out Of The Cellar, Invasion Of Your Privacy (my favorite), Dancing Undercover.
All RATT is good, but the above 3 albums i think is the band at their strongest.

Id like to also say Rest In Peace to Robbin Crosby RATTs original rythym/joint lead Guitarist who wrote alot of the great riffs. Hes mentioned various times in Motley Crue-The Dirt and Nikki Sixx’s Heroine Diaries

AC/DC – Shot Down In Flames [Live]

Posted in AC/DC, Video of the Day on May 12th, 2008 by Dr. Lee

I felt the need to post this, as AC/DC with Bon Scott is genius, Bon is one of the few singers ive heard recordings of, that actually are better live than in studio!!! This is a great song with a great main riff.

Rest In Peace Bon Scott.
