Petition to Re-release and Remaster Faith No More

http://www.thepetitionsite.com/1/20th-anniversary-of-faith-no-mores-the-real-thing

I just found a petition online which wants to get at least 1000 votes in an attempt to get a remastered release of “The Real Thing” with bonus tracks for its 20th anniversary. I would like to post this link in the hope it would gain more votes as in my honest opinion, “The Real Thing” is one of the best albums of the 1990s (i know it came out out 89 but im sure people associate it with the 90s more). I think that fans of rock, glam, thrash, funk etc can all like this album because it has elements of all and more in the music. To put it bluntly, its a kick ass album that definately needs remastering cause its too quiet now!

Greatest vocalist of Idol have been kicked out

Posted in Gossip on September 25th, 2008 by Dr. Rock

I always follow Idol here in Sweden, why? Well I love to see some great vocalists, and you can always find a great one here and there, especially this one: Petri Vehviläinen

He really kicks ass, reminds me of singers like Bruce Dickinson (Iron Maiden), Joacim Cans (Hammerfall) and Eric Adams (Manowar). Maybe I am to nice here but you get the picture of what he actually can sing with that voice.
Well, he was kicked out yesterday from the show, and they didn’t even play his second chance after this audition, why? Rumour says he had been drinking before his second audition and TV4 can’t be responsible for that apparently, and doesn’t want to be affiliated with a person who drinks. Well boohoo, the people have spoken.

On the TV4:Idol site the comments have been flowing in like bullets from a AK-47, “where is Petri”, “Why didn’t he go through?” are some of the questions been asked on the site. Will we see Petri again, or will he be lost and forgotten with this great talent? Who knows, only time will tell…

A little something something from Tigertailz

Posted in Newz on September 22nd, 2008 by Dr. Rock

Long time no see, well at least for this site. Haven’t been reporting from the Tigertailz camp for a long time but I think it is time for it this time. Their new single “I Believe” can be bought and downloaded on iTunes today. It doesn’t cost that much but all the profit goes to a good cause, read below for more information:

Hi al you Tailz Maniacs,

The new Tigertailz single ‘I Believe’ is released today Monday 22nd September and available from iTunes (digital download only).

The single is being used to launch the Amser Justin Time charity in memory Pepsi Tate who tragically died from Pancreatic cancer last year.

The song only costs 79p so if you could buy/download the single this week we would be very grateful.

To find the song on iTunes navigate as follows:

1. Search on ‘tigertailz’
2. when the results are shown there will be a panel on the left saying ‘ARTISTS AND MORE’
3. Click on ‘Pop’ in there and the single should be displayed

‘I Believe’ is sung by the Welsh Opera singer Bryn Terfel, Pepsi’s wife Shan and Serendipity choir featuring ‘Only Men Allowed’ who recently won the BBC’s ‘Last Choir Standing’ programme.

The video for the single has just been released on You Tube. Please take a look.

All sales of the single will go to raise money for the new charity – http://www.amserjustintime.org/

Many thanks for your support

Buckcherry – Black Butterfly album review

Posted in Newz, Reviewz on September 19th, 2008 by Dr. Lee

album cover

Well this is the follow up release to Buckcherrys most successful effort so far “15″. Im a big fan of 15 and previous Buckcherry albums so this album has been quite a wait for me. Did it live up to standards?

1. Rescue me – This song opens up the album , immediately a tame opener compared to “so far” back off 15. The song has got a kind of Hanoi Rocks feel to the riffs. The chorus is very strong and there is some nice guitar solo melodies. The song isnt very hard rocking like what im used to by them which is a disappointment but Josh Todds singing adds a very catchy melody throughout. Best part is probably the change in pace and riffs before the solo.

2. Tired of You – This song is great, this is Buckcherry how they are supposed to be, upbeat and hard rocking. The song has an AC/DC feel at times with the riffs. The chorus on this song is just brilliant, one of the stand out tracks on the album.

3. Too Drunk…- Too Drunk to fuck was the first taste of the Black Butterfly album as the song leaked prior to the album release. It also had a online video marketing campaign. The song is similar to the bands hit single Crazy Bitch with a groovy mid tempo edge to it. While its not as good as the classic Crazy Bitch. The song does have amusing lyrics and a nice guitar solo. I cant get past the fact the end solo is clearly a Jimi Hendrix lick from Purple Haze though.

4. Dreams – This song is a strange song. Kind of half ballad half not. It starts off with an acousticy sounding guitar with echoe on and melodic singing but at a faster tempo than the usual power ballad. The chorus has strong guitars and is very melodic general “i wanna be, in your dreams”. The song can come off a little cheesy at times which spoils it. Its quite a good song but its a bit tame for my liking. I also have a disliking how during the solo the way the song goes reminds me of MCR a bit, not in lyric content (thank god) just the tune of things.

5. Talk to Me - This song is more like it. Up beat and totally hard rocking!!! The drum beat really adds to this song. Its got a great mix of strong riffs and then groovy zeppelin styled riffs. The chorus then turns into a style which reminds me of something the Cult would do on the “Love” album. The songs very catchy and all the changes in general blend well together and keep the song interesting. This song is definately a song to play at parties, i love it.

6. Child Called It – What the fuck is this. Buckcherry does Blink 182. This song is just, by Buckcherrys standards, shite frankly. The song sounds like Blink 182 could of produced it. This is just lame it doesnt deserve anymore talk from me on it.

7. Dont Go Away – Power ballad time. The song is an ok power ballad but if anyone is familiar with any previous Buckcherry power ballads this song isnt a patch on their older songs. Its just not as catchy and Josh’s voice sounds a bit strained on this song which is a shame because he is usually quite a consistant singer. This though is probably the first Buckcherry ballad with a fitting guitar solo, i always felt what spoilt their hit ballad “Sorry” from 15 was the lack of a guitar solo.

8. Fall out - This song is one of the other songs on the album that i think lives up to standards. The song opens up with a riff that i could imagine Steve Stevens of Billy Idol creating. The song also has an awesome bit before the chorus which i cant really explain but the way the drums bash with the chord changes really emphasises them. The chorus is also awesome. Joshs voice sounds great here.

9. Rose - This song sounds like it could of been done by Bryan Adams, no bullshit. Its kinda got a up beat acoustic feel to it, the song is ok nothing amazing to say for it really anyone could of whacked this out. Average Buckcherry song next to previous acoustic tracks off old albums like “Carousel” and “Brooklyn” which were great.

10. All of Me – Whats this, another slow paced acoustic number following on from a previously acoustic song, we are entering boredom area here. This song is slow in pace and has a bit of a western feel to it, its quite a boring track that i would say was a pointless addition to the album. This would appeal to the Average Kooks fan, not a rock n roll fan.

11. Imminent Bail Out – This song is cool, a very fast song. Again reminds me of Hanoi Rocks. This song resorts back to Joshs old more aggressive singing style which is strongly lacking on this album may i add. Its not as good as some of the other rockers on the album but i guess its a fun driving song. Lets just say its ok but its no “Broken Glass”.

12. Cream – The album closer. This song starts off kinda lazy with some random lyrics “cream on me, you will always be, my deepest love”…right. The song has an annoying marching band drum roll which reminds me of that band, that i hate, My Chemical Romance. Anyway the song builds up with this then kicks into a very early 90s alternative band sounding chorus. It has a Smashing Pumpkins feel. Then the song suddenly takes a change into a more Guns N Roses “Mr Brownstone” styled groove which is more like it and molds into a solo. Probably the best part of the song. But then it goes back into MCR mode leaving a bad taste in my mouth. The song has a few more chorus parts again reminding me of 90s alternative bands. Never really gets off the ground.

Overall opinion – dissappointing follow up to a classic album of the 00s. With a lack of hard hitting rock songs and way too many medicore ballads and downright boring songs this is Buckcherry watered down to cater for a market so it can achieve largest sales. Its a shame, Buckcherry were a great Sleazy Rock N Roll band. They show on some of the better tracks what a great album this could of been if they hadnt of loaded it with radio friendly drivel.

Also i tried a different way of writing a review this time, leave a comment if you prefer this style of writing or my old style. :)

“Shacklers Revenge”, new GnR song from Rock Band 2

Posted in Gossip on September 17th, 2008 by Dr. Rock

Probably not the best songs on the new album, “Chinese Democracy”. But it sure is something new, along with the other songs that I’ve heard from the album on youtube, mostly in snippet sizes.

This album will be a great one, but this song might be a minor set back, not my cup of tea.

The song will be out on Rock Band 2, and this gives Axl a great opportunity to show his art to the young generation that maybe hasn’t heard of Guns n’ Roses, which seems unbelievable. Everyone must have heard something by Guns n’ Roses in their lives, otherwise their lives can’t be complete…

What do you think of this new song?

Pro-shot video with Metallica at the O2 show

Posted in Metallica on September 16th, 2008 by Dr. Rock

Metallica playing ‘That Was Just Your Life’ and ‘The End Of The Line’ on September 12, 2008 in O2 World arena in Berlin, Germany.

Their new album “Death Magnetic” have gotten really nice review all over the world. It even topped the charts in the UK and got second place in Ireland, 4-6 days after the release
I read that a French record store release the album on September 2nd, which made other stores to release the album 2 days before the official release date, which was the 12th of September.

Pretty annoying knowing that your album is sold almost 2 weeks before the real date, it also made the album available on various bittorrent sites. But Lars Ulrich wasn’t to hard about it:

We’re ten days from release. I mean, from here, we’re golden. If this thing leaks all over the world today or tomorrow, happy days. Happy days. Trust me. Ten days out and it hasn’t quote-unquote fallen off the truck yet? Everybody’s happy. It’s 2008 and it’s part of how it is these days, so it’s fine. We’re happy.

He also told USA Today:

By 2008 standards, that’s a victory. If you’d told me six months ago that our record wouldn’t leak until 10 days out, I would have signed up for that. We made a great record, and people seem to be getting off on it way more than anyone expected
