Hawk album from 1985, will finally be released

Posted in Newz on August 30th, 2009 by Dr. Rock

FnA Records is set to release a piece of musical history. In 1985, Heavy Metal band HAWK recorded an album that would never see the light of day. Within the last twenty-four years from when the album was recorded, all the members of the band have gone on to have stellar careers.

Hawk featured Scott Travis who would leave Hawk for Racer X and then eventually become the ongoing drummer in Judas Priest; one of the worlds greatest Heavy Metal bands. Lead singer Charlie Wayne Morrill would eventually front King Kobra and be a major player in the development of the Bullet Boys. Lonnie Vincent also became a member of the Bullet Boys. Lastly, Doug Marks went onto form Metal Method; a highly successful instructional music video company.

Although the band wore a lot of make-up, they were definitely a heavy metal band with tunes like Witches Burning, Overkill, Burning Leather, and Don’t Try To Stop Me. The 10 track album also featured one ballad entitled No One 2 Love.

When FnA Records (www.fnarecords.net) uncovered this gem in 2009 and found out that it had been sitting in the vaults all these years, they knew they had to release it. FnA Records named the album LET THE METAL LIVE after one of the tracks on the album and how appropriate that is for the times.

The album is slated for release on September 1, 2009, although it has been readily available online for the last month.

FnA Records, LLC. is a new record label formed in 2009 to bring Rockers and Metal heads some of the best unreleased and hard-to-find music from the 80′s and early 90′s. We are also a label that allows you, the fans to bring us music that you remember from “Back In The Day”, and to have it professionally released.

Streaming samples from the new Ace Frehley album

I just got a hold of this link, with all the songs from Ace Frehleys new album, “Anomaly”, streamed to your headphones/speakers for free, and I must say that the album sounds like a killer. I know that Kiss also has an album out soon, but I prefer Ace Frehley, mostly after I saw him live at Sweden Rock Festival last year. Thou, I wonder how if the Kiss album will be a multi-selling one, if my calculations is correct, it will sell like melting butter in the sun. Well have listen to Ace’s new album HERE

Damn, I love this gaming franchise. I love them all, I even have Guitar Hero 3, Guitar Hero: Metallica and Guitar Hero: Greatest Hits for my Wii console. And as a writer for a rock webzine I feel should write a little something about these games, and encourage others to buy it for their consoles. I am waiting for this game, hope it will kick ass, and this latest trailer for Guitar Hero 5 make you wanna buy this game. Check it out below:

Tea Time

Posted in Other, Videos on August 28th, 2009 by Dr. Feelgood

So here I am, burnt to a crisp in the Far East (Malaysia/Thailand for those who care)… For the past few days, I’ve taken to walking around the capital in the evenings in the hopes of finding live bands to harass … chat with – unfortunately they all seem to be hiding…. And aside from the various clubs blaring Bon Jovi at ridiculous times in the morning, so it can be heard all the way back home… I managed not, to find many…any…. live bands on the scene.
HOWEVER what I DID manage to come across, was a Canadian band named “The Tea Party” and these guys seem pretty restricted in popularity to…well… Canada…. These guys have a very Asian edge to them though, making it rather fitting that i should attempt to popularize them while hunting for Asian bands… Labelled as “Morrocan Roll”, you may not *get them* straight away, but after listening to them several times, they really grow on you…. Plus, the vocals are purely shaggable!

(Unfortunately the owner of the video, does not permit viewers to embed it anyway, so I’m only able to post the link to one of their songs… But DO check it out! It’s damn worth it!)

Album Review For Tenet’s “Sovereign”

Posted in Reviewz on August 23rd, 2009 by Dr. Steel

Tenet- Sovereign (resized)
Each and every metalhead has that special place in his heart reserved for brutal music. This year, expect such a place to be occupied by Tenet, a new death/thrash ensemble featuring former Exodus frontman Steve “Zetro” Souza on vocals backed by Strapping Young Lad alumni, among which is the peerless lord of ze drums, Gene Hoglan. Not bothering with fancy shit on its first salvo of punishing music, a guitar screams, Souza yells, and the blastbeats arrive faster than you can say “Ouch.” Tenet’s sound is a painful, delicious brand of modern day thrash running on death metal decibels that’s scarcely heard anywhere these days. Despite its grimness, this here “Sovereign” album still makes room for generous helpings of melody and guitar solos. The bottom line: Century Media have hit the jackpot with an underdog release.
