Here are the good Doctor’s findings.

Rest in Peace, Paul Gray

Posted in Newz on May 25th, 2010 by Dr. Rock

Why does these things keep happening? Is God recruiting for a all-star band for his Heaven? More and More metal/rock icons are leaving us too soon. May you rest in peace my fellow rocker, and my condolences to your friends, family and fans.

Paul Gray is the bassist from Slipknot, the mask wearing band from USA with millions of sold albums, Grammy Nominations and millions of fans along with a bunch of sold-out arena shows all around the world. A great achievement for a rock band, he will forever be missed.

Rest in Peace, Dio

Posted in Newz on May 16th, 2010 by Dr. Rock

He was one of the few that made a stand for metal and rock n’ roll, living through many musical eras. He played with Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Heaven and Hell and his own band Dio. Man I hate this, many rock legends have left us ranging from just 5 years back. And this addition to the list is very sad, and very hopeless. I hate it, I love Dio and his powerful voice, and he was a rocker after 67 years of age. Thats pretty hard-core.
It was planned for Heaven and Hell to play on Sonisphere here in Sweden (and other places), and I guess that is a big “no no” now.

Well I have to say that he will be missed by millions of fans and of course his family and friends. I guess we will see bands doing their “Dio tribute” project in a few moments.
Rest in Peace fellow rocker

By the way, we just hit 1000 posts

Posted in Rock Hospital on May 11th, 2010 by Dr. Rock

Yeah, finally! Rockhospital.com have now reached a milestone in its history, a 1000 posts have been made. All through news, gig/tour announcements, reviews and interviews, even some bullshit have slipped through. Now its time for us to reach 2000 posts, and (another) by the way, I started this version of Rockhospital back in 2005 so it took us 5 years to reach this goal, almost like a drag, ain’t it?
Check out the 1000′nd post HERE made by Dr. Steel.

Well I hope you come back reading our BS and goodness, you must like us by now :)

Also, Sweden Rock Festival is nearing its first day and I will bring my (big) camera for this one, lots of photos and shit. I am really looking forward to show you the festival from my point of view.

Stryper to release a new album

Posted in Stryper on May 11th, 2010 by Dr. Rock

Oh My God (haha, you get it?) Stryper will release a new album this fall, this year, yeah really. Check out the letter from Michael Sweet below:

Hey Everyone,
Just as promised, I wanted to outline some more details regarding the new Stryper record. We grew up listening to many different styles of music and there is a list of bands that influenced us throughout our musical education. Bands like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Scorpions, Van Halen, UFO, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Kansas and many others, helped to shape our sound and make us who we are today, musically speaking. We grew up on the streets of LA playing every club in town from Gazzari’s to The Whisky to The Troubadour to you name it. We played covers from all the bands mentioned above and we shaped our own sound from listening and performing songs from these classic bands. We wanted to step outside the box and record a record that shows you, the fans, where we come from – our historical, musical roots so to speak. It’s a side to Stryper that no one has really seen or heard before, or at least quite like this. We performed “On Fire” by Van Halen on a few tours and we also performed “Breaking The Law” by Priest on this last tour. The response was far beyond our expectations each time we performed these songs. People seemed genuinely surprised to hear Stryper cover these songs and even more surprised to hear Stryper perform these songs relatively well. This will be an opportunity for Robert, Oz, Tim and myself to loosen up and have some fun. For those of you who may think that we’re walking away from our faith – your wrong. We’ve never been more serious about our faith at any point in our lives. It is however important to enjoy what you do and lighten up from time to time. That’s what we plan to do. This will be a fun record to make and we hope that this comes through, as well as the chance to showcase the abilities that we’ve been blessed with. More details to come and a specific song list and sequence to follow. We’re looking forward to geting back into the studio and more important, to seeing all of you on the road again this year!

Be well, be blessed and let the games begin,

//Michael

Awesome indeed, and I can only say that I am looking forward for this one, yet again. Murder By Pride was good, and way better then I thought it would be, considering that some 80s band doesn’t do good stuff anymore, or at least aim at sounding like they did, which people really loved. Peace out and have fun this coming weekend, let us all pump out some Stryper songs from our speakers, maximum volume!

Who Is Decaying My Youth?

Posted in Interviewz, Rock Hospital on May 9th, 2010 by Dr. Steel

It’s this dude named Chad, apparently.

The one-man project Decaying My Youth is the fiery cleansing, the absolute pestilence, purgative sonic diarrhea. Playing riff-driven doom-death in the grand tradition of whoever the fuck played riff-driven doom-death in the past, present, and now, brains-of-the-band Chad Nottingham wasn’t too cool for a soul searching chat. Here’s the guy waxing terse on his music, hometown, and bestest friends.

[Important Note: For lack of any decent pics aside from a mugshot, Dr. Steel has resorted to displaying the female form.]

Album Review For Nevermore’s “The Obsidian Conspiracy”

Posted in Rock Hospital on May 9th, 2010 by Dr. Steel

Ladies and gentlemen, from the United States of America…Nevermore!

Forgiving the melo-drama at the start, such fanfare is indeed due this highly anticipated release from Seattle’s most well-known metal band. Five years removed from their definitive “This Godless Endeavour,” Warrel Dane, Jeff Loomis, Jim Sheppard, and Van Williams return to unleash a hurricane of boiling riffs, lyrics laden with acid words, and a bittersweet feast of sentient psalms.
