About

Rockhospital.com is a music blog, covering interest stories in the rock scene along with the heavy metal scene. Our history is long and can only be shown to you in this long story I am about to tell you.

The beginning…
In 2004 I (Dr. Rock) discovered Swedish glam bands such as CRASHDÏET. That was a band with future potential so I started to listen to them, heavily, everyday.
After being a part of their forum I discovered other bands: Starlet Suicide, Coma City, Pinklips, Vains of Jenna, Panzer Princess, Loud n’ Nasty, Paradise and the list goes on and on but few band are still alive today.
I thought to myself, where can I read about these band on the net, not a single website did cover news from these bands, except one, SwedishSleaze.tk – It was run by Karl Thunder from Paradise. So I started to visit his website on a daily basis. It was somewhere here I got the idea of creating my own website for these bands, so I started to work on the idea, how should I do this?

As the nerd I am, playing with computers all day long, I had some contacts on IRC (Internet Relay Chat) who had websites and their own FTPs so I asked kindly if someone would like to host my website, the first domain was rock-hospital.tk and it was online for a while. The first version of the site was only a simple message board, where I tried to gather the glammers and the sleazers and band members from these bands that I loved. It didn’t get much users but I posted stuff one there from day to day.
I also got my first interview posted there, with the awesome front man from CRASHDÏET: Dave Lepard. I did had some minor contact with him on email so I asked him about an interview and he was happy about it so I sent him some questions and the interview was posted online on the message board.

But after a couple of interviews I shut down the board to concentrate on getting a new software for the site, different Content Management Systems were tried but I fell in love with the one we use today, WordPress.

So now it was up to me to cover news from these Swedish glam/sleaze bands everyday, but also writing about bigger bands so get some major spotlight for the site. The statistics went skyrocket and I couldn’t believe that my own website could generate interest but it did, check out the statistics HERE

2008
To sum up the story I jump to this year, 2008. Lots had happen in the Scene from the year of 2005, Vains of Jenna had moved to USA for a record deal with Bam Margera, Dave Lepard passed away, CRASHDÏET found a new singer, Sister was born and hundreds of other small demo bands evolved along 2006, 2007 and 2008.

Rockhospital had also be recruiting new writers, Dr. Lee, Dr. Steel and Dr. Feelgood along with Nurse Melody. So now we are stronger than ever posting stuff about some of the bands we have decided to follow along the years. We can’t write about all the Swedish demo bands, but from time to time some bands pop up with something interesting that could be covered here on the site.

I am really happy for my site, hoping to live with it for years and years more. The future can only tell how it goes but it does look promising and hopefully it will get the reputation that it deserves. If you want something, you have to work for it…
