Update: By the way, I freakin’ love these samples, can’t wait for the album to come out on Spotify or something. It really sounds like they have worked their asses of to do this album, it is all well done and everyone does what they were meant to do, especially Michaels voice on “On Fire” and “Blackout”, but his voice really fell into places on “Heaven and Hell”. So what are going to do when this album is released? Well, RUN TO THE CLOSEST RECORD STORE AND BUY IT (or order it on the net)

Good job guys, keep em’ coming, and don’t forget us Swedes!

Stryper to release a new album

Posted in Stryper on May 11th, 2010 by Dr. Rock

Oh My God (haha, you get it?) Stryper will release a new album this fall, this year, yeah really. Check out the letter from Michael Sweet below:

Hey Everyone,
Just as promised, I wanted to outline some more details regarding the new Stryper record. We grew up listening to many different styles of music and there is a list of bands that influenced us throughout our musical education. Bands like Judas Priest, Iron Maiden, Scorpions, Van Halen, UFO, Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, Queen, Kansas and many others, helped to shape our sound and make us who we are today, musically speaking. We grew up on the streets of LA playing every club in town from Gazzari’s to The Whisky to The Troubadour to you name it. We played covers from all the bands mentioned above and we shaped our own sound from listening and performing songs from these classic bands. We wanted to step outside the box and record a record that shows you, the fans, where we come from – our historical, musical roots so to speak. It’s a side to Stryper that no one has really seen or heard before, or at least quite like this. We performed “On Fire” by Van Halen on a few tours and we also performed “Breaking The Law” by Priest on this last tour. The response was far beyond our expectations each time we performed these songs. People seemed genuinely surprised to hear Stryper cover these songs and even more surprised to hear Stryper perform these songs relatively well. This will be an opportunity for Robert, Oz, Tim and myself to loosen up and have some fun. For those of you who may think that we’re walking away from our faith – your wrong. We’ve never been more serious about our faith at any point in our lives. It is however important to enjoy what you do and lighten up from time to time. That’s what we plan to do. This will be a fun record to make and we hope that this comes through, as well as the chance to showcase the abilities that we’ve been blessed with. More details to come and a specific song list and sequence to follow. We’re looking forward to geting back into the studio and more important, to seeing all of you on the road again this year!

Be well, be blessed and let the games begin,

//Michael

Awesome indeed, and I can only say that I am looking forward for this one, yet again. Murder By Pride was good, and way better then I thought it would be, considering that some 80s band doesn’t do good stuff anymore, or at least aim at sounding like they did, which people really loved. Peace out and have fun this coming weekend, let us all pump out some Stryper songs from our speakers, maximum volume!

Lizzy leaves Vains of Jenna

Posted in VOJ on March 20th, 2010 by Dr. Rock

In a statement to management and the band – lead singer Lizzy DeVine has officially left the group.

“The last 5 years with this band has been the best years of my life. It’s with a tear in my eye, but a whole lot of love and respect for the band, manager, endorsers and fans all over the world, I announce that I’m no longer the lead singer/front man of VAINS OF JENNA. It’s been a crazy ride. And I’ve loved every second of it. But now I must move on and let the band grow. I’ve done more with this band than I could ever have dreamed of but now it’s time for new adventures! I love all of you.” Lizzy DeVine

VAINS of JENNA comprised of lead guitarist and main song writer Nicki Kin (Age 23), bassist JP White (26) and drummer Jacki Stone (23) embrace this change with the following statement. “We have always been a family and have supported each other through the good times and the bad. Today we support and respect Lizzy’s choice. We wish him all the best in the future and we part ways as friends. To our fans and friends everywhere, we are as shocked at this development as the rest of you. But we are real, committed to our music and will go forward. We have been honored by all of your support over the years and cannot express enough our regrets to bring this news. But this is reality and we accept the challenge.”

VAINS of JENNA formed in 2005 in Falkenberg Sweden. They have been featured internationally on TV and radio, appeared in hundreds of print articles and performed over 400 shows in a dozen countries. The band was originally signed by MTV star BAM MARGERA (Jackass/Viva La Bam) to Filthy Note/Universal in 2006. Soon followed major North America tours with Poison, Ratt & GWAR in 2007. They returned to Europe in 2008 and toured ITALY, ENGLAND & SWEDEN which included the Mega Festival SWEDEN ROCK. In the summer of 2009 the band was back in Los Angeles to release “The Art of Telling Lies” (RLS/RAW NOIZE) which received 5 star reviews around the globe. Since inception VAINS of JENNA have continuously drawn comparisons to legendary groups like Aerosmith, Guns N’ Roses and Hanoi Rocks.

“We are seeking a young, hungry, aggressive, dedicated, fresh face and voice to front our band. Someone who is one of us. If you think you’re the guy for the job – then step to the plate now.” Nicki, JP & Jacki

Crazy Lixx goes pro, releases epic album

Posted in Crazy Lixx on January 31st, 2010 by Dr. Rock

Well, sorry for the weird title, but I think it suits the topic. Crazy Lixx is a Swedish melodic hard-rock act that have been around for a couple of years, they have been struggling and working really hard and now, after 1 album release and a little change in the line-up they are back with the new album “New Religion” (release date: EU – March 19th | US – April 6th). I haven’t listened enough to the new material but I have too say that this one beats the shit out of the old one. With Andy Dawson on the guitar nothing can’t go wrong, he just has this melodic guitar picking, slapping and shredding that you could hear in acts like (the list can go on, but to name a few) Danger Danger, Extreme and Europe

I really hope that this release will shoot them into the stardom and the fame that they deserve. So, as a recommendation to you all, go to the Ubetoo profile for Crazy Lixx and listen to some samples from their new album.

Crazy Lixx releases new album in March

Posted in Crazy Lixx on January 28th, 2010 by Dr. Rock

Frontiers Records announces the release of CRAZY LIXX second album New Religion on March 19th in Europe and April 6th in the USA. January 2010, Crazy Lixx, one of the most exciting bands to come out of the Sleaze-Rock movement renaissance in Sweden, together with Crashdiet Hardcore Superstar, Babylon Bombs and Vains of Jenna, are back with the release of the brand new album entitled New Religion.

Crazy Lixx was formed in 2002 in Malmö, Sweden. The core line-up up until the first album consisted of vocalist Danny Rexon (also known as Dirtchild Danny or D.C. Danny), guitarist Vic Zino, drummer Joey Cirera and bass player Luke Rivano. The current line-up features guitarist Andy Dawson in Vic Zino’s place after the latter joined Hardcore Superstar.

Crazy Lixx debuted with Loud Minority in November 2007, an album that notwithstanding an underground release, received a great acclaim from the media and fans, reaching position #2 in the national Swedish Hard Rock chart.

The band spent all of 2008 and parts of 2009 touring like hell all over Europe and writing material for the new album, working hard to define their own music style which, even though was often compared to the likes of Def Leppard, KISS, Warrant and Skid Row, it has now matured and evolved in a personal and ultra-melodic interpretation of the Sleaze-Arena Hard Rock style.

The final result is New Religion, the new album which includes a dozen Hard Rock gems (out of over the double amount of songs written) recorded at Polar Studios in Stockholm, along with producer Chris Laney (Europe, Crashdiet, Candlemass).

We set out with one goal, and that was to beat the living s**t out of Loud Minority with these new songs, and if you ask me, we’ve beaten it black and blue. I can’t wait to get these new songs played live, states singer Danny Rexon.

And thanks to killer anthems like My Medicine and such cuts as The Witching Hour, Children of the Cross, Rock and a Hard Place and 21 ’til I Die (just to name a few), the guys can consider their mission accomplished and look at 2010 as a key year to break their talent on to the international markets!

What person or band, got you into rock?
I guess that it must have been Sebastian bach tha really got me into this “Marshall mouth” livin type of thingie.
But along Mr:Bach i`ve always loved Axl and his diva stylie and the rest of the la 80s bunch of wakkos…

What was the first CD or LP you ever bought?
My first album i bought was Europe 86 , but i got a whole deal of vinyls at an even earlier age from my sis, dunno if i really understood it then thou…hehe

The best song you’ve ever heard?
Drink fight n fuck with GG allin

Do you have any favorite bands, name 3 of them?
10cc , Skids , The gunners.

Do you have any goals in your life, if you do what could that be?
I really wanna go into space in real life not just in a hallucinogenic way….stay clean.

crashdiet demo 2005 front

If you would pick a band, any kind, what band would do an
opening for CrashDiet on a tour?

I wanna se Seb bach cryin on his knees coz i wipe his ass on stage. hehe but i really would like to be onstage together with Lill lindfors.

Name one or more bands that should do a reunion, and why
I dont like reunions at all, if the old chums decide to call it quits then it should be like that, perhaps crashdiet can be the only reason for me to see a reunion that i would like….

Do you think a persons image, like names and clothes are important to
become a rock star?

Of fukkin corpse i think its 50/50 with looks musicallity image and the whole 69 yards but i think the main thing is the fukkin attitude if ya aint got it and dont think yer the coolest walkin creature on earth , how would you then persuade ppl to dig yer wikked act of art.

dave lepard grave rip

Why did you come up with the idea of having style inspiration from
the 80s (not that its a bad idea, I think it totally rock)?

I guess its mainly coz its a fukkin killer look with the hair and everythin, and i was like so fed up on all these shorthaired headbangers….doesnt quite look that cool for me….

Now this is my last question to you Dave, what do you think of this
interview. Was it good, bad, not important or anything?

Its alwayz kewl to do interviews with ppl with a burning heart for rock n roll…..

And one thing, what would you like to say to all the kids out there
wanting to become a rock star like you?

KEEP THE FUKKIN HAIR IN SHAPE & REST IN SLEAZE…….we do this for you all…..
