I just visited Blabbermouth and watch’d a post about Mötley Crüe and their setlist:

01. Kickstart My Heart
02. Wild Side
03. Shout at the Devil
04. Saints of Los Angeles *
05. Live Wire
06. Mutherfucker of the Year
07. Don’t Go Away Mad (Just Go Away)
08. Same Ol’ Situation
09. Primal Scream
10. Looks that Kill
11. Girls Girls Girls
12. Dr. Feelgood
—————
13. Home Sweet Home (Tommy Lee on piano at front of stage)

Sure this looks good and all, but to few new songs here for me. I love their old stuff, but isn’t this 2008?
Well back to my main point: The “fans” or the people who is commenting this post on Blabbermouth is throwing dirt at the band.
They all hate the other bands, well Buckcherry gets some good head ups but the other bands just simple sucks. I mean, sure they might be good at what they do but do they fit the style of Mötley Crüe?

Quote from “jimmy two times”:

I really wanted to go to this when I first heard the mention of a cruefest. I thought it would be Motley and other bands like them that were younger….like Ozzfest is/was. i thought maybe Crashdiet, Vains Of Jenna, Crazy Lixx and bands like that. When I saw the lineup, I thought ok, Buck Cherry is cool. Papa Roach sucks, so does Trapt. Sixx AM? Eh. So, so. Now that I see the set list I’m glad i didn’t waste my money on this shit tour. I wanted a reason to go. I like the new album a lot. I didn’t think they had anything left good in them. I’m guessing Mick can only stand for so long…Not kidding. he’s really old and has a bad back and even worse knees. Vince Neil has always sang every other/third word. Watch a live youtube clip from any era and it’s the same shit. Every song on this lame ass set list was a single/video with the exception of “motherfucker of the year”. Carnival Of Sins was Much better. Maybe this is their farewell. yeah right. As long as there’s money to be made, they can show up once a year, or every other year, get 4 marginally shitty but for some reason popular bands to open up for you. Play for an hour and await payment. This seems familiar……Oh yeah Sharonfest!!

That is what I thought to. Why not bring in some new bands from Sweden, that really can rock and would blend into the style of Mötley Crüe. But instead they bring in some Nü-metal dudes and some new rock bands that is hated by the whole internet, well almost. Popular metal, pop-metal is what I call it, but I am not hear to bash anyone, I am just forwarding what other people think.

Well I can’t wait until Mötley Crüe is coming to Sweden again, skip the other bands and let Crazy Lixx OR CRASHDÏET open the show. I can only beg on my knees……..

I recently interviewed the new guitarist for Swedish Hard Rock band Crazy Lixx to see what hes got to offer the made for arena rock band.

And

Hey Andy, You have recently joined Crazy Lixx. Can you tell me how that feels, and how did the opportunity come about?
Yeah, it feels great!

Well, Danny contacted me a while ago and we started talking about the situation, i sent over some recordings and went down to Malmo to play with them and everything felt good, it sounded great and we connected very fast. It all went down very well.

So, as you know you have taken the position of guitarist in the band. A position originally filled by the now Hardcore Superstar guitarist Vic Zino. Its well known that Vic was a very close member of the band to the guys and it was tough for them when he left. Was it hard taking over the guitarist position and do you feel any pressure at all?
Well no, I mean it could have been hard but the guys made it very easy for me, they gave me alot of space and i’ve been hanging and playing guitar with Vic and become good friends with him but i understand the situation and i know those things can be very tuff but that’s the way it is you know.

You used to be in Swedish Hard Rock band Sharp. Which featured several members who are now in bands such as Jailbait and Dynazty. How does playing in Crazy Lixx compare to your time in Sharp and how would you compare the two bands?

Well first of all Sharp was never the style of music anyone of us really wanted to play, we thought it was when we started the band but no, thats why we broke up, we all wanted to play different styles. Crazy Lixx is exactly what i want to do and thats what makes it so easy, and of course the strongest reason for me to join.

Crazy Lixx recently announced they would be releasing their album in Japan, featuring two new songs. Do you play on those recordings? If not when will people be hearing new Crazy Lixx material featuring the Mark 2 line up?
Those songs were recorded at the same time as the album so no, i don’t play on them. I really don’t know exactly when you will hear new material but hopefully in the near future.

Crazy Lixx now

Who are your biggest influences?
Impossible to say just like that they are many, but to mention a few i would have to say hmm… Aerosmith, Bon Jovi, Van Halen, Extreme, Def Leppard, Skid Row and Yngwie of course haha, the list goes on forever..

How do you think Crazy Lixx fits into todays music scene with alot of music popular generally being emo, indie, hip-hop?
Generally todays music scene is not good, not good at all but i know thats just temporary, I mean they’re alot of great hardrock today but i guess it doesn’t fit todays music scene in the way you put it but thats why we do this, to bring it all back!

Will Crazy Lixx be touring soon and are you excited to get out on the road with them?

Yeah i’m very excited to get out and play! It’s gonna be awesome, new places, new people, Very exciting

What does playing Rock N Roll give you Andy?
It gives me everything! Like when you put on welcome to the jungle or highway star for example you get that rush and thats what it’s all about. Rock n roll is about not being like everyone else and doin everything like you want to! I’ve always done everything my own way and i think thats the way it is.

Playin guitar gives me energy and strength and when i’m on stage, lookin down on that screamin crowd i let it out, it’s the only thing i wanna do!

Thanks for participating in this interview Andy. I wish you the best of luck with Crazy Lixx and i hope to see you guys touring in the UK again soon. Is there one last thing youd like to say on behalf of Crazy Lixx and yourself?

Thank you! I hope we’ll play in the UK soon, Well i would like to thank all of you Crazy Lixx fans who been writing, really means alot!

Crazy Lixx have been looking for a guitarist for months now. Today they announced him, Andy Dawson from the former band Sharp.

“We are very satisfied with our new member. He was our first chioce afer having gone through all the applications
that we recieved and we’re completely confident that he will be a worthy successor to Vic Zino. Andy is a very talented
guitar player and despite his young age he has a mature style of playing combined with lots of experience of performing live
on stage from his last band SHARP.
In addition, and this is probaly one of the most important aspects for us, he fits perfectly in the group on a personal level; He
shares the same visions for Crazy Lixx and will contribute with the same energy and commitment as the rest of us in order to push the band forward. - Danny, Joey & Luke”

The original members write in their newsletter.

From what I have heard, Andy is a very melodic guitarist with touch from bands such as Whitensnake, Danger Danger and Europe. If he does a good job is yet to be seen, until then Good luck dude!

It seems Crazy Lixx have found the guitar player they have been searching for. They just posted a untitled bulletin on myspace with a photo of the band with the new member silhouetted by the lights behind!

By Dr. Rock | April 7, 2008 - 10:59 am - Posted in Crazy Lixx, HCSS 40 views

I got a newsletter from Crazy Lixx to day, and I guess Vic Zino wrote his last Crazy Lixx statement ever:

“Okay, so this is the deal…

Lately a lot of things has been going down and I feel like I need to make a couple of things clearer. During the tour with Crazy
Lixx in England I got the opportunity to join Hardcore Superstar for a couple of gigs since Silver decided to leave the band.
That was an offer I could not turn down, I mean, how often do you get a chance like that?

Along the way I was asked to join HCSS as a permanent member and even though the decision was not easy I decided to
go for it. I had intended to continue with Crazy Lixx aswell but as time went on it got clearer that time just wouldn’t be
enough for me to be committed to both bands.

This issue has been discussed for quite some time now and when Crazy Lixx asked me to make a decision I chose to go
with HCSS. This was a very tough decision to make since I had been with Crazy Lixx from the beginning, but I understand
that Crazy Lixx have to move forward and I don’t want to be the one keeping them from gigs and further progress which
would have been the case if I would have stayed in the band. I respect that they made me choose and I understand their
dilemma completely.

We still remain great friends and everything remains the same, the only difference is that we don’t play in the same band
anymore. I wish them all the luck with progressing and I will continue to support them in every way possible.

I would like to thank all of you that have showed your support both for me and for Crazy Lixx and I hope that this message will
make things a little bit clearer for you. I am truly greatful for everything that I have experienced with Crazy Lixx, every fan I’ve
met, every CD I’ve signed, every nice thougt I have recieved and every single one that have showed up on our gigs throughout
the years. I have no hard feelings against anyone regarding this matter, I only feel thankful and happy that the future keeps
looking bright for all of us.

I know that some people have a hard time accepting my decision but I hope that all of you will keep on supporting both Crazy
Lixx and myself. We are nothing without all of you!”

I also like to wish Crazy Lixx in the future, I love their and Hardcore Superstars music. I could possible see them do some future concert together, a great team I think.
So we all know that Vic Zino is in Hardcore Superstar, and that he rocks on stage. After their show in my hometown I love’d HCSS even more, Vic Zino is a guitar hero, that’s for sure.

When I was attending the Hardcore Superstar concert I notice’d that Vic Zino was great onstage and fill’d the spot that Silver left after his departure. I also read on the HCSS site that Vic is a permanent guitar bender for Hardcore Superstar, sad to say I thought to myself. What about Crazy Lixx, I mean, they got a record deal along a debute album that was well approach in the Swedish media.

So something I was afraid of is here, well, not something bad really, but something a little sad. No-one wants to part ways with a friend, but lets move on:

Crazy Lixx have now announced that they are looking for a new guitarist for the band:

• Crazy Lixx have decided to part with guitarist Vic Zino.

“We faced Vic with a choice and he went for Hardcore Superstar. We need a guitarist who is 100% committed to Crazy Lixx and with Vic’s new position with HCSS that just isn’t possible. For the survival of Crazy Lixx, this is the way it has to be and we hope our fans understand that too. We wish Vic the best of luck with his new band and
thank him for 6 great years with Lixx.” // Danny, Joey & Luke

Vic will most likely do his last two gigs with Crazy Lixx in the end of April, supporting Hardcore Superstar.

“The search for a new guitar player starts right away. We can not and will not let the departure of Vic stop or slow
us down. We will do our absolute best to find a new talented member to fill Vic’s shoes and the way we see it now,
none of the scheduled shows are in danger of being cancelled.”

If you think you’ve got what it takes to be the new Crazy Lixx guitarist, apply for the position today! Send the
following to band@crazylixx.com :
• A short written bio (and a list of bands you’ve been in, if any)
• A couple of photos of you (also photos on stage if you have those)
• Recorded material where you play guitar (preferably video, but audio is ok)

We will personally go through ALL applications.

If you have tips on guitarists we should check out don’t hesitate to drop us a line.
We would also appriciate if all you guys help us out by spreading the word as much as possible. Thanx a lot in advance!

I recently conducted a fun online interview with D.C Danny from the Swedish Hard Rock band Crazy Lixx.

Crazy Lixx

Hey there danny, for those who dont know already, can you tell me a little bit about Crazy Lixx?
We’re a swedish hard rock band that has been around for roughly 6 years and we’ve just released our debut album ‘Loud Minority’ in november 2007.

Awesome man, i loved Loud Minority, especially the song Dr.Hollywood. What would you say inspired the band to form and play rock music?

Woa, we’ve done it for so long I can hardly remember why we even began to do it in the first place =) No, but I guess it’s the rock n’ roll dream that some kids have, some of us don’t grow up! And frankly, playing rock music is about the best thing I know so why should I persue something else?
The decision fell on hard rock cause that’s the kind of music I love playing the most, i do listen to other kinds of music aswell

Would that explain the Avril Lavigne T-shirt? i’d been meaning to bring that up at some point :)

Hehe, gotta love Avril, mostly because she’s hot as hell but I must admit to the fact that I have some of her songs too. Funny thing, ’cause I really got lot’s of questions ’bout the shirt in the UK.

Danny with Avril T-shirt

Yes, when i went to see you guys play with Hardcore Superstar a few people in the crowd spoke about the t-shirt amoungst themselves while you were setting up! How did you guys feel about the UK tour, did you enjoy it?
It was great! It was the first time that we toured in a bus like that and the first time we played 7 gigs in a week so it was a good experience. The guys from Hardcore are great to hang out with and we were really surprised that the audience in the UK gave us such a warm welcome, us being the support band and all. Seems you guys really like 80’s hard rock over there =)

Ah well you guys got a good reception because you put on a bloody good show in my opinion, as good as Hardcore Superstar. I think UK rock fans that are able to find out about the new Hard Rock bands like Crazy Lixx and Hardcore Superstar love it, sadly its not a very supported genre in the mainstream media at the moment here so its good to have bands like yours keeping it alive. How would you compare UK audiences and shows to Swedish audiences and shows?
Well, in Sweden we’re used to people knowing some of our songs and maybe they’ve been to one of our shows before so there’s a differance but actually I was a bit surprised that people could sing along to some of our tunes in the UK aswell, that’s really cool ’cause we kinda thought we’d have to start from square one in Britain. Kinda’ like when we started doing gigs in Sweden five years ago, but luckilly, that wasn’t the case.

I think the internet is probably the reason why. I personally wouldnt know about any of the bands coming from the Swedish scene if it wasnt for the internet and i certainly wouldnt be able to get my hands on any of the merchandise if it wasnt for online stores either. Will your album be released in the UK and/or USA at some point?
Yes, If everything went as planned it should have been released in the UK on the 23rd of January but then it’s up to the stores to actually order it in. I’m not sure ’bout USA at the moment, but I guess our label is looking at distribution there aswell.

I did not know that, a call to arms for the fans in the UK to phone those stores up for the album is needed i think haha! Are there any plans for the band to return to the UK for another tour soon, or any other countries for that matter?
Not any plans at the moment no, we’re currently looking at booking some festivals for the summer and I guess most of them will be in Sweden but we’ve already got two festivals in Switzerland booked and we’ve had request from all around, including Brazil! We also had a tour in italy planned for april, but we postponed it since we’re going to do some more support gigs for HCSS in Sweden during spring. They’re really big over here and to support them is a great opportunity to get some more fans.

Ah Brazilians, this type of Hard Rock seems to be in high demand over there, those guys know how to rock. I could see how youd want to tour Italy also, alot of Sleaze Metal bands have been coming from the underground there lately. What would you say playing Rock N Roll gives you Danny?
First of all it gives me the possibility to use all of my creativity when writing songs, I would go mad if I wouldn’t be able to write and record all the material that’s popping up in my mind. And the feeling of performing live is unbeatable, it’s the recognition that all people are looking for, no matter the proffession. To stand on stage and feel you’re entertaining hundreds or thousands of people by doing your thing… that’s just fantastic.

Crazy Lixx together

Thats great man, and would you say your living the Rock N Roll dream, or isnt it what you expected it to be?
I’d say I haven’t reached it yet =) But I do have to say that all things aren’t exactly the way you thought they’d be. Most of the downsides have to do with the music industry ,it isn’t always I walk in the park but don’t get me started on the industry or we’ll be stuck here all day… =)

haha i know what you mean, alot of people i talk to who have been or are in proffessional bands often complain about the music industry, and rightfully so. Moving on then haha, does the band plan to release another single soon and can you say what it will be and when it will be?
We’re currently discussing it with our label and we’re hoping on releasing it in Sweden sometime during march-april. It will feature one of the songs that was left over from the recording of ‘Loud Minority’ and at least one single from the album, most likely ‘Make Ends Meet’.

Thats great man, so like a B-side kinda thing. Will there be a video in filmed in support of the single also?
Nothing planned yet but I’d love to do another video, not sure it pays of in this day and age though, the music channels playing videos are becoming fewer and fewer in Sweden and most people don’t have the big channels like MTV and VH1, but, I’d like to do another video and you can always put it on youtube or myspace right?

Totally, im always embedding youtube videos on my myspace profile for people to check out. And its also a good way to link people to knew bands who are too lazy to search them for themselves. I think music channels are still very importent here in the UK however channels such as MTV dont really play good rock n roll music anymore, they tend to love hip-hop and rap here instead.

Id like to thank you for taking part in this online interview Danny, its been a pleasure! Is there anything else youd like to say on behalf of Crazy Lixx and yourself?
“If you book us, we will come…”

You can check some of the bands music out here!

Crazy Lixx have made a deal with Agency Group, a booking agency. From the 1th of January this year they have been working together and as I’ve read, Kalle Meltz from the agency have been working 24/7 with booking them for summer festivals.

They’ve already been booked for Trondheim Rock Festival which is headline’d by Judas Prist, The Quireboys and Pagans Mind

Their also doing the final preparations for the upcoming tour in UK with Hardcore Superstar, the first place for them to rock out is on Barfly in Aberdeen.
They have also update’d their merchendise with some UK tour t-shirts that will be availible at the gigs. (and perhaps on the site?)
