Sweden Rock Festival 2010 is only a year away

Posted in SRF'09, SRF'10 on June 12th, 2009 by Dr. Rock

Hey man, I just figured, Sweden Rock Festival 2010 is only a year away. They will start the festival 12th of June and end it on 15th of June, which is kinda awesome. It will start on a Saturday and end on a Tuesday, which means that I get Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday to rest my body after 72 beers before I get to work on Monday. So isn’t that just a massive plus on their side.

Hopefully the festival will be as great as it was this year, or even better. But what can really beat dancing and cheering to Flogging Molly, with a small sun-stream and thousands of people dancing and cheering with you.
I mean seriously, we danced all the time and my smile was bigger than ever. I must say that it was well needed in the cold weather we had, I heard that we even had ICE on our tents one morning.

And experiencing rain and cold under a festival isn’t something funny, trust me, but it was totally worth it. I had my best friends, my best beer and the best music, so it was great fun.

I can’t really tell how much I appreciate this festival in words. The whole vibe and feeling you get from it is just amazing, we have:
1. great music
2. great people
3. 99% peace (we saw a fight in the camp next to us)
4. beautiful women
5. awesome staff/helpers/salesmen
6. beer (!!!!!!!)

A ball of yarn?

Posted in Videos on May 5th, 2009 by Dr. Rock

Hmm, I just got the funniest email from Never Hide Films, well, the email per say wasn’t that funny, but the link. Well ok, it wasn’t funny at all, just odd, you might say it is something between odd and funny, well let me get to the point.
They have released a new video, with a 6 feet ball of yarn rolling down the streets of San Fransisco to the music from Eagles of Death Metal. I guess that is way they wanted to share the video, a rock band was playing innit.
Well check it out below:

Flickr page with photos of this huge ball of yarn
Funny? Odd? Retarded? Brilliant? Have your say in the comments!

Hey, do you guys know of the music genre called black metal? Wow, you do? Couldn’t imagine… Most of the time we post about melodic rock music, glam metal e.t.c, but I feel that this could be kind of interesting, so I decided to post it:
A documentary from the website VBS.tv about the “true” Norwegian black metal, with members from the band Gorgoroth among others.

Watch the documentary below and tell me what you think:

Yesterday nite a blast, the Answer and AC/DC show

Posted in Chris Laney, Eventz, Newz, Reviewz on February 21st, 2009 by Dr. Rock

Well I attended the Globe yesterday nite with my brother and a couple of friends. The Answer and AC/DC played a full-seater and did it good. But I must prefer the Answer over AC/DC, if I need to be honest. I don’t know if I will write a review of this show, but I must say that they get some minus points for the guitar solo that Angus Young did, I think it was in the middle of the show, I didn’t feel that it was that good. Yes! he is a good guitarist, but just that solo didn’t get me into the “hell yeah” moment.
Otherwise the show was amazing, lots of screaming people (singing along in “Highway to Hell”, “Tnt” and all the other songs), huge digital screens and great sound setup. So all in all, the show was a blast and I recommend you to attend an AC/DC concert once in your life.
I might add more from the concert when I get my phone back, in which I had some notes, hard to remember everything when you have been drinking poison in the form of alcohol.

dr-rock-and-chris-laneyOn another note, I met Chris Laney and Zinny Zan after the show. I said hello and we discussed the solo project that Chris Laney have been working on, and he actually gave me a promo CD off the album, SWEEEEEEEEEET! I told him that there will be review of it and that I will send him some questions when I can get to it, life behind this site are hectic and time consuming!

Well, in the coming days, come back and see if I have published a review or an interview with Chris Laney.

H.E.A.T – 1000 miles [Live/epic fail]

Posted in Chris Laney, Video of the Day on February 15th, 2009 by Dr. Rock

Well long story short, I have stopped trying to show you this video (if SVT upload the video I will publish it in this post) of the band playing live with their new song “1000 miles”. But you can watch when H.E.A.T sings a-capella below:

I also would like to add that one of Swedens best producer/studio guy have mixed the song, and is called Chris Laney. Ain’t that a sweet lollipop to suck on for Mr. Laney. Job well done I must say!

Edit: I have contacted SVT on this matter, hopefully they will upload it to their site or their youtube channel :)

Then and now: Stryper

Posted in Stryper, Then and now on December 5th, 2008 by Dr. Rock

Almost like something from a comic book, some kind of hero team, like Fantastic 4. Well as a matter of fact, Stryper is a Christian heavy metal act that was born in the beginning of the 80s, 1983 to be exact!
Their music is like an orgasm every time I listen to them, a flash of genius, and how metal should sound like. These dudes can master the soundwaves that goes around in the air, and among the audience.
But maybe they might have overdone it with some of their early accessories, but who cares when they deliver something with full force?

Stryper is a must, you have to listen to their tunes, even thou you might think Christianity doesn’t go with heavy metal, these guys shows the differ. I was very glad to see that they was booked for SRF in ‘06, but was very sad when they canceled the show, to perform on a Christian festival, I can understand that in some way. SRF might too diabolic for them, but I want to hear them and I want them to have the biggest audience they can get while attending Sweden, a mecka for rock music.

They do look much wiser and sophisticated nowadays, but that doesn’t stop them to put on a great show, from what I’ve seen on youtube, these guys can still bring what we want!

Have a listen at their myspace, you will be blessed! You can also read more about them on their wikipedia page.

“Shacklers Revenge”, new GnR song from Rock Band 2

Posted in Gossip on September 17th, 2008 by Dr. Rock

Probably not the best songs on the new album, “Chinese Democracy”. But it sure is something new, along with the other songs that I’ve heard from the album on youtube, mostly in snippet sizes.

This album will be a great one, but this song might be a minor set back, not my cup of tea.

The song will be out on Rock Band 2, and this gives Axl a great opportunity to show his art to the young generation that maybe hasn’t heard of Guns n’ Roses, which seems unbelievable. Everyone must have heard something by Guns n’ Roses in their lives, otherwise their lives can’t be complete…

What do you think of this new song?
